One of my favorite dolls from Advance Doll. Manufactured by the West Haven, Connecticut company Advance Doll and Toy Co. a new 20" doll was produced. it was Tama the talking doll, cir 1954 and made only then. These dolls which are a true phonograph type doll, that uses a pre recorded voice series on a 3 1/4 in. Vinyl record. There was 1 record available. This doll was Tama, soft body with the phonograph mechanism sunk into her chest and had the same red and white dress (Poodle Skirt), white socks and white vinyl shoes. I have seen her in the Red dress garnished in sailboats as well. She had vinyl legs, arms and head with sleepy eyes. She was named after Mr. Ardolino's daughter Tama, born in 1952. Tama the talking doll, had a white with blue lettered sash that read "Tama the talking doll." Tama's voice was recorded by Edie Adams who was a singer and actress in the late 40's and 50's. These dolls are extremely rare and with box and sash and her mechanism works, can fetch good money.
