This is an inside look at Mr Atom 1956

Advance Doll and Toy Mr. Atom. The only toy robot they ever made. Produced only in 1956, 18 inches tall and 1 1/2 lb and may have been an effort to capture interest in toys for boys as well. Mr. Atom used Wanda internal components, leg beams, foot plates, but with allot of changes to the main framework and mechanism since Mr. Atom was the only battery powered toy made by Advance Doll and Toy. Using a 4.5 volt DC motor and 3-C batteries to drive him forwards and also to make a buzzing sound using a smaller version of an older dryer buzzer (but quieter) Externally it was Grey plastic with bright Red plastic arms and shoes along with his head with silver trim. His dome on top of his head as well as eyes were clear plastic so the child could see the bulb flashing in his head. The switch in front was for moving him or simulating morse codes. Mr. Atom is a very collector toy and sought out by many. Mr. Atom came new inside his own white box with instructions on the outside of box and sold for $5.95. Rivet holes were prone for breaking the plastic lip off as well as internal frames rusting. Still very collectible.
